Paywall an entire category or tag

Gate by taxonomy, not post-by-post — every article in your ‘Premium’ category is members-only, and new ones inherit the rule automatically.

  • Gate by category/tag
  • New posts auto-gated
  • Set-and-forget

FreeRestrict & gate

Gating articles one by one doesn’t scale. Taxonomy targeting gates every post in a category or tag with a single rule — so a ‘Premium’ category is members-only and new posts you add inherit the gate automatically. This recipe paywalls a category.

What you get
  • Every post in the term is gated by one rule.
  • New posts added to the term are gated automatically.
  • Keep titles/excerpts public for SEO with ‘Show normally’.
  • Members read the full content; others see your message.

‘Show normally’ keeps titles and excerpts public (good for SEO) while gating the body; ‘Hide’ removes them from archives entirely.
Works with categories, tags, and custom taxonomies.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Yes. Taxonomy targeting gates the term, so any post you later assign to that category or tag is automatically covered.

Not if you use ‘Show normally’ — titles and excerpts stay public and indexable while the full body is gated.
