Tiered roles for a platform
Keep a clean role hierarchy — each tier grants its own role and removes the ones below it, so access always matches the current plan.
- Role per tier
- Strip lower roles
- Clean hierarchy
Multi-tier platforms need one role per tier that stays consistent through upgrades. With per-tier Role Mapping rules, Starter/Pro/Enterprise each add their own role and remove lower-tier roles, so a customer’s roles always reflect their current plan. This recipe builds tiered roles.
- Each tier maps to its own WordPress role.
- Upgrading strips lower-tier roles automatically.
- Roles always match the active plan.
- Downstream tools see the correct tier.
